We all get old
It was Matt's birthday yesterday. He had a good day. Me and the kids spent most the day making dad's cake. It doesn't look that good from this side but from the other side it looked really good. It was an ice cream cake since he doesn't really like cake but LOVES ice cream. I had fun making it and I think it turned out really good. Happy Birthday Honey.
PS I guess I call Matt Honey a lot because when Ash plays house she asks Jake to be her "Honey". I think it is pretty cute.
Jake update
Jake got worse and then much better I took him in one more time on Monday and they were able to tell me what he had. I wish I could remember the whole name but it was something that sounded German or something. It is an Auto immune condition and should last about 3 weeks. He is doing much better and is not in as much pain. This one is a pic when his eyes started to swell.

What is this
So Jake last week told me that his legs were hurting. They were swollen and he was having a hard time walking. I took him to the Doctor . They did some blood work. The Dr. thought that it was some antibody something or other. Well he then got a rash and his back started swelling. Well to make a long story short after two trips to the Doctor three vials of blood and a strep test we really don't know what is going on. Now his head is starting to swell and looks a little like the the creatures on Avatar. I am hopeful because his legs look a little better but........ I don't know what to do.
Jake's cousin were here and made him a "bow and arrow shooter" He is having a lot of fun with it.

snow

I loved growing up with a snowy winter. Utah has the greatest winters. Since moving away from Utah, first to Nevada and now Nashville ,I have miss the snow. Nashville gets cold but just doesn't get the snow I love. This is not the first time I have said this on the blog. This year I took the kids outside mid December and just wished for a little white. We even got the sled out and because of this hence the Christmas card that never made it to the mail box ( Next year for sure).

Here is Nashville last week. When the kids woke up to a winter wonderland I knew we had to spend some time in it. Matt was at the hospital so I have to venture out with all the kids. we bundled up and I took the kids, infant carrier and all, on a sleigh ride. They loved it. My Neighbor saw us from the upstairs window of her house and decided to take a couple photos of the event.
It was crazy. School, church, meetings, and parties all cancelled due to the snow. I don't think Nashville has a snow plow in the whole city, well maybe one. As the locals where in awe I was right at home. I loved every minuet. We spent the rest of the day and following days building snow men, sledding and drinking hot chocolate. I think Jake and Ash loved it as much as me I found at least five zip lock bags of snow in the freezer. Needless to say it might have been a good thing that I didn't get my Christmas card sent out after all.

Party with the Babysitter
We had some good friends come into town. We got a babysitter to watch the kidlets so that we could have a date night and go to the temple. My friends two kids and our two oldest must have had the time of their lives. when we got home this is how we found Jake. He is not one to fall asleep in random places but he must have been really, really, really tired.
PS if you can't tell, he is curled up on a chair.

Went under the Knife
I know I have told you about Ashes Eyes. She had an intermittent outward wondering eye. I have been seeing the Dr. about this for a year. We have tried patching the eyes but that didn't really help. So with a lot of thought, Matt and I decided to have Ash get the surgery. I was really scared to have my little girl go under general anesthesia and have this. But I felt it was the best thing to do and that the sooner the better for long term results.
At 5:00 in the morning I woke my sleeping princess and took her to Vanderbilt Primary Children's Hospital. (One of my favorite things about Ashley is that when she wakes up, or is woken up, at what ever time and no matter how tired, she is normally Happy. That is just to show you how carefree and happy this little girl is. ) I tried to explain what was going to happen and she said "I am so excited to go to daddy's work" I was glad that i was more scared than her.
It was dark outside and cold. Ash Brought Bear bear and her blanket to keep us company.
We checked in and Waited. The wait was fun It was just me and Ash talking, playing and she even did a little "jumping". Then they called us back. They weighed her and gave me a tiny yellow shirt and yellow pants to put on her. She was so cute because she has always been able to speak so clear and has a way with people. She could answer all of the questions. The nurses were thoroughly enjoying this little Patient. Matt met me there, since he had to be there at 3:30 AM to round on some pt., right before they gave her a sedative to help her fall asleep.
She was getting a little loopy and I asked her if she wanted to sing any songs. She requested Happy Family song. so I would start and she would fill me in on who we forgot. It just isn't long enough for all the names unless I combined them to work. and the she would join in on "we are a happy family" It was slow and she looked up at me. Then she fell asleep. And they took her to back to where she would get the surgery. I was so sad to see her wheeled out on a little hospital bed.
My thought were diverted to all the moms who had children here with different diseases and my heart broke for them. Matt took me down to the cafeteria to get a little something while we waited. After we were done, we went back to see how things were going. Her name was still on the screen informing us they were still working on her. After a little while longer the attendant said that they were done and that she was starting to wake up and we could go back to be with her.
I walked fast wanting to see my baby. There she was with her eyes all swollen and IVs in her arm. She was crying. I wanted so much to comfort her and help her know that she was going to be ok but I couldn't. She just kept crying. Her Voice was horse and I could smell the anesthesia on her breath. Me and Matt took turns holding her. I didn't want to give her up but she would say daddy and I had to release her to his arm. She wouldn't stop crying. We couldn't calm her. She even said" My eyes are hurting".
I Had a flood of emotions. I looked at her and saw my brand new little baby girl ,swollen eyes and everything. She looked like she did when she was first born. I remember what it felt like to have her in my arms for the first time. She continued to cry. I asked the nurse if everything went ok and she assured me that it did. We tried everything I walked her around and Dad held her and rocked her. We tried juice and even a Popsicle. They told us that they could give her a little something more for the pain and then put something in the IV. We held her more as she continued to cry. I started rocking her and rubbing my hand crossed her forehead and up through her hair line and hummed. And with my eyes closed I Prayed. I wanted her to be out of pain. I couldn't help but feel this was my fault. It was my genetics that gave her that wondering eye. I wished He would help her, Comfort Her. And as I continued to pray I heard the cries weaken and quiet. until it completely stopped and she fell asleep in my arms. I thank my Heavenly Father for answering my prayer so quickly and felt once again Humbled to be a mother.

A couple minuets later she woke up back to her normal self, happy, fun, carefree and THIRSTY.

Where does the time go?
Tuesday, November 17, 2009
This is what happens during "Quite" time, when I think my children are sleeping. There was much more but I was too mad to take a photo of that I started them cleaning before I took this one. What do I do? Every time I think that I am a good mom I find myself getting mad at my kids for small little things. I guess it will keep me humble.

adventure
We went on an adventure . Two inches from the deck and about 30 feet from the neighbors and went "camping." Matt had promised the kids but didn't get home until late so this was the compromise. Let me tell you it was an adventure. Makayla and I last 45 mins before returning to the house, Ashes followed shortly and at about 3:30 Jake ,freezing, and Dad all returned to our beds. After all It ended being a good idea not to got too far from home.

Over the top
So I have been trying to make a couple hair bows for Kays. If the bow is bigger than the face, it might be a little too much. I think this one is border line. Kays has gotten her first cold. Seem much earlier than the other two but with their help it was hard to keep her from getting sick. It's hard for her to eat and sleep and even breath. Babies and cold are so sad. But the Dr. think she will be over it soon.

My Latest Project
I love a good "project" so when I found a night stand, head board, dresser, mirror (which broke)and Armour for 90 bucks. I knew I could do something awesome so here it is. I like it but if someone could help me decorate my room? I would like some ideas.
I will show the other pieces when I get a little closer to finished.

Two Months
This little girl has been such a joy. The last two months have been so nice. I think that just her sweet Innocent spirit has made our home calmer and more wonderful. She loves her mom. She likes to cuddle. Gets fussy around 8:00. Loves to be held and sleeps in the car. Started smiling a couple weeks ago and her face just lights up. Is a angel and I am lucky she came to our family. Jake and ASh couldn't love her more. Jake gets so excited when she smiles at him after he is smiling in her face for a couple minutes. And Ash will make sure that I know if ever Makaywa starts to cry.
